"The Othaz a conglomerate of MCs representing North Carolina are making noise with their compilation 2.3 (http://www.othaz.com) Attacking dance floors with the groupie-love anthem "You Know What It Iz," and the menage a trois set-up "Wet, Wet" before switching gears wit introspective tales like "Lost Soul" and "Survive." Waleed Coyote'z BIO INFORMATION:

Born July 26, 1976, in a hospital in Brighton, England. The reason
Waleed was born in England was because there was war in Beirut, Lebanon and the hospitals were being bombed. Therefore his parents went to England on a six month medical emergency visa. After three months Waleed was brought back to Beirut. Waleed stayed in Beirut until 1984 but the war was too much; so his parents decided to move the family to the United States of America.

Waleed spoke very little English, and would spend his first summer watching television. The thing that Waleed watched the most was MTV morning, noon and night. With every video and every lyric, Waleed was catching on to American pop culture.

When Waleed was in the sixth grade he discovered a rap group called N.W.A. He also met a D.J. that changed his life forever, because that gave Waleed an opportunity to carry records and attend parties at a young age.

Throughout his high-school years Waleed kept up with the national and local hip-hop scene. Being an in-state resident of North Carolina, he had a chance to enroll in Western Carolina University.

Waleed had never visited the school and when he got there it was a cultural shock. Waleed was so disappointed in his college radio station that he went and signed up for a show. The show “Flipside” became number one, and Waleed earned the primetime spot; seven to ten p.m. every night.
During his senior year of college Waleed started a record label with his family, this label was known as Othaz (coming from the word “other” on applications asking about race...check..black..white..or..other) Records. The label was promoted on the campus with t-shirts, hats, and of course c.d's.

Waleed was also then hired at the station he grew up listening to, wjmh 102 JAMZ (Greensboro, NC). He started out part-time, working shifts nobody else wanted to work!

As he grew into popularity so did his music. Then one day in September
2001, life changed for Waleed. He quickly realized that day that people were going to look at him strange because of his nationality. He put together a song called September 12. The news stations covered it and his relationship with television media was born. Recording Mixed C.D's to working on radio the work ethic became unbelievable. Waleed knowing that there were no positive role models for middle easterners, dubbed the state of North Carolina as "the middle east”. Geographically North Carolina is in the middle of the east coast.

Waleed was later promoted to the fulltime night personality at 102 JAMZ. Waleed’s show remains number one in the ratings today. In addition, the popularity of Othaz Records is growing at an unbelievable rate. With more than seven records in rotation and tens of thousandths of c.d's sold in the region needless to say Waleed is very excited about the future.

Always believing in the words ever forward-never backward Waleed Coyote plans to set his mark on the world. http://www.waleedcoyote.com

P-Wonda' z BIO INFORMATION:

"The name P-Wonda came about because my name is Pierre but everyone used to call me P. When I rhymed there was no telling what I would come up with. I was so versatile that everyone would be like I wonder what P gonna say next. So I came up with P-Wonda.You also can freak like P won da battle last nite,P one of da realest.I was born in Greensboro but raised in Petersburg, Virginia 14 years. Why do we call N.C.the Middle East? Just look at the map. You got New York at the top. Florida is at the bottom and whats in the middle of the eastside? North Carolina. The other reason we call it the Middle East is because my man, my producer Waleed Coyote is from Beirut. I started rapping in Petersburg. My mom pass me on when I was a little child to my grandma in Petersburg. I started rapping as a little child in elementary.I was inspired by LL Cool J,RAKIM, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Jay Z, Big L and Big Pun. Those are people that I really admired in Hip Hop. They inspired me as far as how I write. They painted pictures of the life that I was a custom too.

My birthday is April 7, 1982. I started rapping in elementary I didnt come to the whole idea of being a born star until I was incarcerated. I opened for a lot of people before I got locked. I did a lot of shows. I use to win a lot of free style battles over at the radio station 102 Jamz. However, I was half time artist, half time hustler, robber etc. I really didnt have a conscious i was out of control. When I got incarcerated Waleed Coyote my producer kept in touch with me and was.

C-Juliani'z BIO INFORMATION:

I was born and raised in Gastonia, NC aka (The Gashouse). Gastonia is a smalltown about 15 miles south of Charlotte NC. Gastonia is famous for producing NBA greats James Worthy, Sleepy Floyd, and Darrell Armstrong. So growing up as a kid I dreamed of being a professional athlete. I played sports throughout my teenage years and attended college on a football scholarship at Western Carolina University. As a senior I sparked the intrest of the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, and the Carolina Panthers. I wasn't fortunate enough to make it to the NFL but I did play professionally in the Arena Football League with the Greensboro Prowlers.
While growing up I was heavily influenced by rap music. The first rap song that I remember hearing and bugging over was RUN DMC'S "Peter Piper." When my brother Marc played that track the beat caught me and I have been hooked on hip hop since. I wrote my first rap at age 13. I use to find singles with instrumentals and write my own songs over the beats. Before long I had notebooks filled with rap lyrics. I listened to a lot of different artists but my favorites were RUN DMC, KRS ONE, ERIC B & RAKIM, EPMD, BIG DADDY KANE AND A TRIBE CALLED QUEST. These were the people who inspired me to rhyme.
While attending Ashbrook High School I met Tarik Cranke (The King), Tycuma Jones (Nat Turner) and Shawn Wilson (Mama's Boy) and founded the crew called the VKC. The VKC was actually the studio in the back of Tarik's parent's house that we use to rhyme and have parties in. I made a ton of music with those brothers and we still make music to this day. We released a self titled album in stores regionally in 2000. The VKC has since grown and now consists of Boney B, Taz Infinite, Navigator, and Bam Rueggar.
I met Waleed Coyote while attending WCU where he had a reputation for holding down campus radio and the party scene and I had a reputation for rhyming and football. One night in the dorm me and my teammate Mardell Miller decided to call Waleed's Radio show and freestyle over the phone. We killed it and the buzz on campus was crazy. The following week I returned and rhymed over the classic Biggie "who shot ya" instrumental live in studio at the radio station. Once again I killed it for like 50 barz. I became a campus celeb from the freestyles and talent shows. Waleed was so impressed that he invited me to his crib to kick it and have some sessions. After a month or so he invited me to Greensboro to record and official studio record and to meet his Othaz family. Since then we have been traveling all over the map recording and doing shows. From California to Detroit to Washington D.C. to Chicago to Alabama. Waleed was the person who convinced me to take music seriously. He's always been honest with me and that's why I respect him and roll wit Othaz Records. I've been with Othaz since the days we had to beg people to play our records: now we've got fans all over the globe getting inked up with the "check in the box" logo. Its been a long struggle and we are still grinding; but believe me when I say this " THE MIDDLE EAST IS ABOUT TO TAKE OVER THE MUSIC INDUSTRY." So stay plugged in. (UMKAYYYYYYYYYYYY!)

Ricco Barrino'z BIO INFORMATION:

Ricco Barrino was born in High Point, North Carolina with the gift of music in his genes. Also known as “Puerto Ricco” he gained his love for music at an early age with the influential sounds of Gospel & R&B music being song in his home by various family members who had their own bands and groups during the Motown era. Ricco’s father was also a very successful old school crooner by his own rights. Ricco was especially drawn to the sounds of musical legends such as Prince, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Sam Cooke and George Clinton. He feels these guys defined soul music as we know it; they paved the way for the type of music he performs today.

Ricco started his first band by the age of 11 and has been developing his own rich and unique musical sound ever since. Because of the diverse genres of music he has grow-up with; Ricco has the ability to intertwine the best sounds of R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Rap, Country, and Pop to give all his fans that finger snapping toe tapping sound that we all love on a hot summers night. He can also show a rugged steely side that can be traced back to his North Carolina high school football days where he was a standout linebacker and fullback. More recently Ricco has become the lead singer/writer and soul of his group Infinite which resides in “Da Middle East” otherwise known as Greensboro, North Carolina.

In addition to shaping the R&B scene with Infinite, Ricco also is a constant powerful voice singing background with his sister American Idol champion Fantasia Barrino. He’s a veteran of many international tours that include the likes of Kanye West, Common, Keisha Cole, and Patty Labelle just to name a few. He is currently assisting Fantasia as she is working on her next release to hit airwaves soon.

Today Ricco is making his way up the charts with his new hit single “Bubble Gum” which has all the ladies asking if they can give him some of their gum. “BubbleGum” will appear on the compilation CD of Othaz Records http://www.othaz.com this fall. Ricco says he has nothing but love for Othaz Records also of “Da Middle East”, Greensboro, North Carolina. Ricco is the lead vocals in a video that is currently being aired on BET for Broadband called “You Know What It Is” with Othaz Records rapper P-Wonda.
Ricco sees big things in the future for Othaz Records; with the label growing to the Bad Boy or Cash Money status in the near future stated in his own words.

Because Ricco is a self confessed workaholic with the talent and drive of five men he has also started a company for young writers called Sky Writers. He collaborates with his friend and producer of “Bubble Gum” Keith McMasters of Grand Hustlers; whose tracks include placements with nationally renowned rappers such as T.I., Chingy, P-Wonda of Othaz Records, and Ludacris. Ricco has surrounded himself with the best in R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop and Rap because he is always pushing himself to be the best.

Ricco’s style is very rhythmic; it touches the heart and soul of all generations’ man or woman, boy or girl. What makes him different is he has originality, soulfulness, and a spiritual depth that not many men can descend to at such a young age. Ricco has a way of using his lyrics to reach in and touch your soul. Listen to two of his tracks on 2.3 to be released this fall, “Bubble Gum” and “You Know What It Is” by Othaz Records/Fontana/Universal Records. “Never Goodbye, Only Love”-Ricco Barrino

AllHipHop.com: Most people only know about emcees like Little Brother and Petey Pablo, but who are some of the underground rappers that the rest of the world should know about from your homestate?

DJ Chela: Jozeemo out of East Durham is that dude, he’s an amazing storyteller, and he’s got a huge following. Shelly B is a big artist out here, she’s got crazy talent. Kaze is a beast. K-Hill is amazing. J Bully moved back here not too long ago, he won The Source Battles back in the day. He’s sick. Twip sings, raps, produces, and he’s started a whole movement, the new funk, it’s crazy. P Wonda and Othaz Records are on their grind heavy. Seven, “Mr. F**k the Police” brings it. There are so many cats out here to look for.
